PHOTO MOSAIC GUIDES

Choose tile photos for your photo mosaic

Tile photos are the small pieces of a mosaic. Their colors and brightness affect placement as well as the size of your collection.

Include both light and dark photos

If your main image contains a bright sky and dark shadows, you need photos that can represent both. Select family or travel photos with varied colors and brightness. This can give the generator a wider choice than adding many nearly identical pictures.

Check how photos look as small squares

Photos are resized to square tiles. Wide or tall photos may change proportions, and small text or faces may be difficult to read in the result. Inspect the tile list and zoom into your generated mosaic to see how important subjects appear.

Review coverage and adjust photo diversity

You can select up to 500 tile photos. Use the photo coverage helper to check color coverage and add photos where needed. Smart placement includes a diversity setting that adjusts reuse and neighboring repetitions. It does not guarantee that all photos will be used equally.

Correcting a color mismatch

A collection with almost no blue cannot accurately represent a blue sky through placement settings alone. Use the coverage helper to identify missing colors and add relevant photos. Then compare Color priority and Balanced in Smart placement with the same collection. Higher diversity can reduce repetition at the cost of color similarity.

Repeated and unused photos

Adding 100 tile photos is different from placing 100 cells. A photo can be selected for multiple cells, and some candidates may not be selected at all. Check the usage counts in the result. If a particular photo must appear, verify it directly in the output; equal use of every photo is not guaranteed.

Try these settings
